What does it typically cost to completely build a log home? Our homes typically finish at three times the package price. This price
would be inclusive of all normal site prep and construction costs, right
through the final flooring and staining. Remember, this does not include
the cost of your land. Once we have an opportunity to visit your land
to aid in the placement of your house, driveway and septic system, our
cost estimates will be much more precise. How long will it take to build my home? A typical three bedroom, two bathroom home in the 1700 to 1800 hundred square foot range will be completed in 5 months, depending on weather conditions. How do I pick a log home company? There are many log home dealers out there claiming to be the best. Many are good but, or course, there are some that don't have your best interests in mind. When selecting a log home dealer, first, don't be afraid to ask how long the log home company has been in business AND how long the person(s) you are dealing with have been in business (the main company may have been around for a while but the experience of the dealer is also important!). Find out how many homes the dealer sold last year. You want to see several homes that the dealer has sold. Talk to at least a couple of customers to find out how the dealer is to work with. And, very important, how do you feel in working with the dealer. Does the dealer answer your questions clearly? Do you like the dealer? Does the dealer respond well to tough questions? Patlin Enterprises has been around since 1986. We sell around 70 homes in a year. We are proud of our reputation and are happy to share our experiences with our customers. How do I know if the lot I'm considering is a good piece of land? Once you commit to Patlin Enterprises we will be happy to review as many parcels of land as is necessary to find the right location for your home. With many of our past clients, we have walked several parcels before finding the perfect location for their home. Can I visit a construction site? Our office typically has twenty to thirty homes going up at any given time. We would be happy to arrange a visit to sites close to you which reflect a style in which you are interested. Can I come to a Lincoln Logs delivery? Absolutely. We welcome your company. Remember, we may put you to work helping us check in the house materials! Where do I go for kitchens, plumbing, flooring, etc? We sell more than seventy homes per year, an extraordinary number for any one home dealer, so our volume enables us to pass on deep discounts negotiated with various suppliers. How do I maintain my log home? We stock a full line of products for the maintenance
of your log home. Are your logs treated? We understand that there are strong feelings on both sides of this argument. To make you comfortable, Lincoln Logs is happy to treat or not treat your logs at no additional cost. Do I want cedar or do I want pine? First of all, note that most companies selling cedar
today are not selling Western cedar but are selling inexpensive Eastern
white cedar. Lincoln Logs does offer Western cedar but due to logging restrictions it is more expensive: we would recommend it only when your budget allows. Past home purchasers have mentioned that an extra bath or bedroom may have been a better choice rather than the cedar option. We give the same 100 year warrantee with our pine or cedar logs. Why doesn't the Lincoln Logs basic home package come with an all wood interior? Lincoln Logs packages are available with all wood interiors. However most of our clients opt for a combination of wood and sheetrock; therefore we do not include all wood in the basic package. If you let us know how much wood you would like in your home, we'll be happy to price it. I have other questions you didn't cover here. What can I do? Simply contact us and we will be happy to answer any of your questions. |
